We hope everyone had
a wonderful winter recess!!
Throughout the month
of January our new Author Study unit will focus on Leo Lionni. We learned that Leo Lionni writes and
illustrates children’s books. Some of
Mr. Lionni’s most recognizable children’s books include, “A Color of His Own”, “Swimmy”
and “It’s Mine”. During circle time we
looked at a variety of Leo Lionni’s books and found some similarities, such as
many of his stories were about animals (i.e., fish, chameleons, frogs, crocodiles,
etc.) and friendship (being a kind friend, sharing and taking turns). We are looking forward to a fun
filled month!
This past week we read the story A Color of His Own ~ Leo Lionni. We talked about how many animals have a color of their own (Elephants are grey, pigs are pink) but chameleons do not have a color of their own because they are always changing. WHY are they always changing?
If your child has any
favorite Leo Lionni books at home that he/she would like to share with their
classmates feel free to send them in (please label all books).
